• We petition the South Carolina General Assembly to provide state income tax relief for all beneficiaries of the South Carolina Retirement System administered by PEBA.

We the undersigned, constituents of ________________________________petition the South Carolina General Assembly to amend the S.C.

Code of Laws to exempt the retirement income of all retired employees receiving benefits from PEBA and by amending sections relating to

the retirement income deduction, so as to make conforming changes. We petition for the support and passage of S. 692 and H. 4210 with

amendments to define state employees to include all retirees receiving benefits from PEBA.

State retirees’ annual retirement income adjustment of 1% has not kept up with inflation and many state retirees are suffering because of it. State income tax relief will help relieve the suffering of some of our most  vulnerable seniors while continuing the successful measures to insure the solvency of the retirement trust fund.
